Chapter 3

25-01-3012 [Location:- Somewhere in the Republic of Frogia]

               Nurses are going in and out frequently. Frank was standing in the alley by leaning towards the wall. Jed was trying to ask what was going on there. But, everyone was busy rescuing Mrs Johnson. Frank was a different man at that time. He was nowhere near that Navy man. That brave man who controlled that unusual situation that happened earlier seems to be lost somewhere. Frank is just now a lonely lover, who is waiting to get his heart back from the hand of death.

               Jed came back to Frank. “Hey bud, it’s gonna be okay. They are doing well. Also, they got some best docs in this state.” Jed tried to make Frank calm. But his mind was lost somewhere deep inside. Frank doesn’t reply to Jed. He was just kept standing there like a statue. Jed knows that his words cannot bring peace to Frank’s mind. Because he knows his love story. A heart touching one, by the way.

               Suddenly, the door which he standing nearby opens. His breath just stopped for a moment. The expected sound does not come out. The board hanging above the door says what he was expecting. Words on the board spell Labour Room. That man’s face became nervous. “Who is Mr Johnson?” A nurse came out of the room and asked. “it's... it's me.” Frank replied with a voice that seems to be from an old gramophone. “Doctor Hudson wants to see you. Please go to his cabin sir.” The nurse said what she needed to say and went back to the room. Suddenly Frank recalls the moment when he went down to the deep trenches of the Pacific Ocean. That howling sound of wind went through his ears. The salty taste of sea air came to his mouth. He was like facing a thunderstorm along with high tidal waves which make the Battleship loses its control. He lost his mind in the deep reality that he was going to lose something valuable. His legs were dragging his body to the doctor’s cabin while Jed was walking aside him by trying to make him feel better. Frank doesn’t know what’s going around. He just reached the doctor’s cabin and sat on the chair there. Jed looked at Frank’s face. He cannot understand what’s in Frank’s mind. Doesn’t even know Frank has consciousness. They both just sat there waiting for the doctor.

               “Are you Mr Johnson?” A man in a white coat with a stethoscope around his neck entered the cabin. “Yes, it’s him.”. Jed replied by pointing towards Frank. “How’s she doc?” Frank suddenly raised his voice. “Is she good?” His eyes were seeking a yes from the doctor. Doctor Hudson sat on his chair and took a deep breath. Then he started to speak. “See Frank, it’s complicated. Because, with today’s technology, we cannot rescue both mom and kid. We may lose Mary or the child. But we can try our best. And rest is in his hands.” The words of the doctor stroked at the heart of Frank. The man who seemed like a soldier a few moments ago now looks like a lost traveller in the middle of a desert. “It will be okay, everything gonna is fine.” Jed tried to make Frank calm. But you know, when you hear you may have to lose someone who you love most, what will be your mental condition? Quiet indescribable, right? That’s what going on with Frank. “Everything maybe come fine. Miracles will happen, pray for it.” Dr Hudson said those word like a formality.

               “Doctor, that man is awake.” Suddenly a nurse came there and said. “Who?” Dr Hudson asked. “That mystery man, who came here in that pod.” The nurse’s voice says that she is scared. “Wait, I’m coming”. Doctor took his stethoscope and went to the room in which that man was admitted. Jed stood up and said to Frank, “Mate, you wait here. I’ll go and check him. The backup will arrive here soon.”. Frank was sitting there without any consciousness. “You go, Jed. I want to alone sometimes. I’ll catch up”. He somehow made to say those words. Jed walked from there without forcing Frank to do anything.

               As Jed approached the room of that stranger, he felt the presence of someone he knew already. Presence of some kind of bond. Maybe because of these unusual situations. Whatever it was, he walked into the room. On the bed, he saw an almost twenty-five-year-old male human being, who wore dresses which has a fashion seems to not exist at that time. “He may be a spy from Hoppinsland. I heard that they are building some new techs as the war goes on. Although I believe our Frogian military has more destructive power than them.” Jed said his assumptions. “As we made the nuclear weapons, they are working hard for building more destructive weapons. That pod may be part of their experiment.”  “Goddamn wars. What did they get from it? Only some dead bodies of brave men. All of them are lunatics.” Dr Hudson used that situation for expressing his views towards war. “Probably. These are for nothing. But we have to keep our land ourselves. So. we have to fight back.” Jed continues “Also, the nurse said he’s awake. But he is still asleep. Why?” Looking at that stranger in bed, Jed seemed to be confused. “Oh, that’s because of the seductive. We gave him to relieve his pain. He got some injuries. His muscles are not good. It’s strange. Never seen before. He’s good now. Wait for few minutes. You can ask questions then.” The doctor explained the condition. Then he went out while Jed stayed inside the room. ’Even though, how the hell he reached here? Who is he? What kind of vehicle was he driving? Why he dressed up like this?’ So many questions came up in Jed’s mind. He cannot do much until that guy wakes up. The only thing he can now do is just sit in that room and wait until that man opens his eyes.

               At the same time (or at a different time), there were two old human beings were waiting outside the ICU at a hospital situated somewhere on the outskirts of New Yorke City. They are completely out of mind due to some events that happened in their neighbouring house. Some unusual events.
