Chapter 2

    It was raining outside. A man in a dusty black coat walking to and fro in the hallway. People around him were not bothering him. They are doing their own business. He just stopped for a moment and peak through the window. The rain is getting heavier. A voice raised from behind, “Climate is changing dramatically, right partner?”. He just turned his head in search of that voice. He found a man with a cowboy hat who lean against the wall. “Aye”. That sailor in the black coat just tried to avoid that conversation. Again, he started looking outside. He noticed how big that board in Infront of the building, ‘Preliminary Health Centre’. Written in a beautiful font. prepared his mind to hear both good and bad news. Because his wife is in the labour room in a critical situation. The rough climate outside making him annoyed. It was like the last time he went out to the seas. Nature shows its beast mode to everyone with a wind that blows like a wandering insane mother who lost her child along with endless rainfall. His mind was like a disturbed sea, which makes the ships of thoughts swirling around like they got mad.

         Suddenly, a howling sound was raising from nowhere. “Holy shit, what is that?” People began to seems terrified. “Is it another war or something?” “It’s the world’s end...” “No, it may be some lunatic music bad or something” Different assumptions are raising. “Mom… look at that”, a kid said loudly from his mother’s hand. The spectators saw clouds of dust rising from the ground and forming a globe-like shape. “Holy moly, what in the world is that? Is that any terrorist attack or something?” someone screamed. “Everybody get down…” the security guards came to action. People were desperately searching for safe places and lies down. That globe form started to glow in violet colour. The howling sound is getting louder and louder. It glows like a thousand-watt lamp. With a bang sound, the light and howling disappeared. Screaming around there is began to fade away. Everyone’s eyes are searching for what happened there. The dust globe was still there.

         “Hey Frank”, the man with cowboy hat broke the silence, “Frank, are you okay mate?”. He was asking the men with a black coat. “Yeah, I’m good. Is that you Jade? Are you fine kid?”. He replied with a question. “Yeah, boss. Let’s check out your wife first. Come on.”. Jade helped Frank to get up. “They’ll be fine. Let’s check out what going out there.” The Navy men showed his responsibility quickly. As they watched, the dust is falling. They found an alien ship like thing in that place. “What the….”, Frank looks stunned. People were started to approaching that thing. By noticing that, Frank screamed. “NOBODY MOVES FROM THEIR CURRENT PLACE.” The mob in the hospital stayed at their place like statues. “We, the Navy men are in charge. For your safety, stay at your place.” The Navy men Franklin Johnson and Jedidiah Lessley raised their badges and service pistol. They moved towards the thing slowly. “Jed, go that way.” Frank explained their plan to surround the pod-like thing. As they approached the pod, their arms and legs became unmovable. They both turned into two statues with guns pointing at the pod with either surprised or afraid face. “Fr.. Fr.. Frank, dear, are you watching this?” Jed asked. “Yeah, but..”. Both of them couldn’t get any words. “It’s a... It’s a man Jed. It’s a man.” Frank said with fear in his voice. “Eh.. ah…” The faded man in the pod makes a sound in pain. Suddenly, both courageous men moved backwards. “Look Jed, he’s alive, let’s take him inside.” Frank said. “But we don’t know who the hell is this.” Jed was afraid. He sounds like that. “We can find it only if he’s alive. Come and help me. It’s an order.” Frank’s voice was rock solid that Jed cannot say any objection. “Okay then,” Jed said. “Bring a stretcher over here. We got an injured man.” Suddenly a bunch of nurses brought the stretcher and took that man inside the hospital. Frank collected some paper and marker from the reception and made a board quoting “RESTRICTED AREA. DO NOT ENTER THIS PERIMETER”. He placed it near the pod and asked Jed to build a temporary fence around it. Later he informed the Navy base nearby for support to secure the area. “What’s going on?” Jed came after finishing the fence thing. “I don’t know Jed,” Frank replied, “Things happening on these days doesn’t make any sense. Want a smoke?”. Frank gave a cigarette to Jed. They stood at the porch area watching the pod. “Mr Johnson, please come inside.” the voice of a nurse raised from the hallway. “I’m sorry, did you call me?” Frank replied like he was not there. “Yes Mr Johnson, I called you. Please come inside, it’s your wife.” The nurse went inside quickly after saying that. “Wait, what? Is she alright?” desperate voice of Frank doesn’t reach the nurse’s ears. She went quickly to the Labour room. Frank was standing there like a statue at that moment.  “Come on Frank boy, come.” Jed dragged Frank who was standing at the main door like a lost man. After getting his mind at the right place, Frank ran after the nurse. Inside, he was praying to God, “Please don’t take her away from me.”. But, the trickiest playwriter had written the screenplay earlier than Frank’s prayer reached him. Jed, who was running along with him, can hear Frank’s heartbeat raising. Because Frank was at the edge of losing his wife.
